About
this book
Paul Bowles and Ira Cohen were friends for many years. Ira lived in
Morocco, Kathmandu, Nepal and New York. Below is a portion of a letter
from Paul to Ira, three years after this book was published, dated 12th
February 1979.

Ira Cohen asked Paul
to write a dream poem, (a seventeen page publication, eight pages of
text) which was called 'Next to Nothing' and was published in 1976 (not
to be confused with the Black Sparrow edition.) This work is sometimes referred to
as 'Katmandu.' This is a hand made book.
